Hand Made Wood and Aluminum Plated Mask 'Elike'

Artisans in Ghana carry out Raphat's vision by carving the mask from sese wood with a plant motif, then covering the cheeks and forehead in textured aluminum repousse. A red hat crowns the green and yellow face.The artisan calls his mask Elike, a Ghanaian Ewe word that means, 'rooted on solid grounds.'"
